Housing Starts Fell in March to a Four-Month Low

New-home construction in the U.S. cooled in March to a four-month low as starts of single-family properties settled back from the strongest pace in almost a decade, Commerce Department data showed April 18.

Trailer orders down for March but expected to keep growing

Orders for vocational trailers, however, showed “some signs of life” last month after an extended slump.

While net trailer orders slipped in March compared to previous months, they are up 45% to 50% year-over-year to total 246,000 units for the last twelve months – a trend Don Ake, vice president of commercial vehicles at research firm FTR Transportation Intelligence, described as a “great sign” moving into the seasonally strong second quarter.
